Józef Piłsudski (1867-1935) was the military-political president of Poland. He was marshal of Poland and a key architect of the regaining of independence after World War One. He was the national leader in the late 1920s and 1930s.
A mound is a pile of earth, stones, etc. built as a defence.
The Piłsudski mound is one of the mounds in Kraków.
