Poland was partitioned between Germany, Austria and the Soviet Union. Austrian occupied Poland was called Galicia (Austria-Hungary). In Austrian occupied Poland, postage stamps and postage due stamps from Austria and from Austrian occupied Bosnia Hercegovina were used by the Poles in the years 1918 and 1919 to produce local stamps. The original stamps were overprinted with handstamps, which were generally Polska Poczta overprints.
Jędrzejów, Olkusz and Zwierzyniec nad Wieprzem were in the Austrian area captured from the Soviets.
The Austrian postage stamps used for local overprints are Austria Michel 185-224, postage dues Michel 34-63, postage stamps occupied Bosnia Hercegovina Michel 117-118 and postage dues Michel 14-24.
