Tadeusz Kościuszko overprint (see Fischer 340)
Tadeusz Kościuszko was a Polish general who was devoted to liberty, which made him one of the great heroes of Poland. He fought in American and Polish campaigns (against Russians and Prussians) for independence.
One of these campaigns was the unsuccessful Kościuszko uprising, which broke out on 24 March 1794. The uprising took place between the second (1793) and the third (1795) partition of Poland.
